Cutting shears make the haircut. Thinners, blenders and texturizers remove bulk and blend, and are mostly used for finishing cuts.

Choose the hand you cut with. Left-handed shears are their own models, so check that the product page says left-handed.

Essential care
Keep them sharp longer
Good habits protect the edge more than anything else you can do.

Clean after every cut
Wipe and dry with a soft cotton cloth, including the pivot on both sides.

Oil the pivot
One drop of professional scissor oil on each side of the pivot, at least once a day.

Check the tension
Check it regularly. Adjust the screw gently, in small increments, or not at all.

Store them safely
Close the shears before setting them down and keep them in their packaging.
